Fall of Man
Genesis 3... Good and evil
Genesis 3:1-5 (TS2009)
And the nahash was more crafty than all the lives of the field which YHWH Elohim had made, and he said to the woman, "Is it true that Elohim has said, 'Do not eat of every tree of the garden'?" And the woman said to the nahash, "We are to eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Elohim has said, 'Do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest you die.' " And the nahash said to the woman, "You shall certainly not die. "For Elohim knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Elohim, knowing good and evil."

The word nahash means serpent and it symbolizes Satan who is the deceiver of the world (Revelation 12:9). Just like Adam and Eve, the heavenly creatures of which Satan was one, also had the free will to obey or disobey God. God commanded the first man to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by penalty of death (Genesis 2:16-17). The Creator knows what is best for that which He created (Isaiah 48:17-18). Humans are not merely amoral beings of flesh and blood like the animals created before them. Humans are created in the image of God. They are conscious of their choices, they know morality, and they have free will to choose between good and evil. But humans are not forced to obey God. Satan knew this and wanted human beings to worship him instead of God.
Genesis 3:6-8 (TS2009)
And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, and she took of its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves. And they heard the voice of YHWH Elohim walking about in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of YHWH Elohim among the trees of the garden.

The first sin of man was disobedience to God. Satan used the woman to deceive Adam into sin. This is how sin entered the world. And by sin death entered into the world (Romans 5:12) exactly like God had forewarned Adam (Genesis 2:17). All the descendants of Adam and Eve inherited death because all sinned (Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3). Without morality man degrades himself and makes himself into a beast (Psalms 49:20, Psalms 73:22, Daniel 4:16). And that's exactly what is happening in the world (2 Timothy 3:1-7). With the rise of materialism comes the decline of morality.
The blame game
Genesis 3:9-13 (TS2009)
And YHWH Elohim called unto Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who made you know that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.” And YHWH Elohim said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The nahash deceived me, and I ate.”

For the first time Adam and Eve felt shame. They knew they did wrong by sinning against God. Here we see the human habit of pointing the finger to others in order to put the blame on others. But of course everybody is responsible for his or her own choices and actions. Practically everything stands or falls with the belief or disbelief in our sinning nature, inherited from Adam and Eve, and the necessity of redemption through the Messiah Romans 3:19-26). Satan tricked Eve with the idea to become like God. He still uses that trick on mankind, it obviously works very well. More and more people put God aside in order to play God themselves.
Messianic prophecy
Genesis 3:14-15 (TS2009)
And YHWH Elohim said to the nahash, "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all livestock and more than every beast of the field. On your belly you are to go, and eat dust all the days of your life. And I put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed. He shall crush your head, and you shall crush His heel."

Satan is compared to a serpent, a beast. This likely points to Satan's loss of morality. God immediately punishes Satan and offers the solution to the corruption brought to God's creation. That solution involves the prophecy of the enmity between Satan and his seed and the woman and her Seed. The woman's Seed symbolizes the Messiah (Galatians 3:16, Genesis 12:7, Genesis 17:7, Genesis 22:18). It is the beginning of a long line of prophecies concerning the coming Messiah. Revelation 12 reveals that this woman symbolizes God's people and the Seed coming from her is the Messiah who died for our sins. So the Book of Genesis which was written long before the Messiah was born provides us with the first prophecy of the coming Messiah. Satan killed the Messiah on earth ("crushed His heel"). But this is part of God's plan. The Messiah died without sin and conquered death. He was resurrected by God. Now He sits at the right hand of God and in the time of the end He will bind Satan and ultimately destroy him ("crush his head").
Corruption
Genesis 3:21-22 (TS2009)
And YHWH Elohim made coats of skin for the man and his wife and dressed them. And YHWH Elohim said, “See, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”

Adam and Eve had free will to choose between obedience or disobedience to God. Good and evil did not exist in their minds until they sinned. Sin is inextricably linked to evil. From the moment they sinned Adam and Eve knew that they had done evil by disobeying God and therefore hid themselves from God. God allowed this to happen because they had free will and knew the consequences of their choice. Thus Satan tricked mankind in disobeying God and he became the ruler of this world (Luke 4:5-7, John 12:31, John 14:30, John 16:11, 1 John 5:19, 2 Cor 4:4, Ephesians 2:2). Disobeying God means obeying Satan (1 John 3:8). All the descendants of Adam and Eve inherited death because all sinned (Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3). Satan is evil. God is good (Mark 10:18). God urges people to repent and overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Every morally sentient individual has the choice between good or evil. Those who believe in God will be persuaded to choose good because they believe God will judge them and promises a future without evil as a reward. Those who don't believe in God will be persuaded to choose evil because they believe nobody will hold them accountable for their choice. Evil is the absence of good. The world is getting more Godless, and therefore also more evil, with time. A spiritual battle is taking place between good and evil. With the rise of materialism comes the decline of morality. Thanks to God Adam could not eat of the tree of life in order to obtain eternal life. That would mean eternal life in a sinful body in a corrupt world ruled by Satan (Romans 8:20-23).
Genesis 3:23-24 (TS2009)
so YHWH Elohim sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken, and He drove the man out. And He placed kerubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Powerful cherubim were placed to block passage to the tree of life.
